Walk into any grocery or drug store and you'll see just how important our smiles are to us. Racks of magazines show us the picture-perfect smiles of models and celebs while racks of dental products which whiten our teeth help us achieve that in our own home. You know that to be anyone in America, you need to have that look. Luckily we have the products that can give it to you!
Sometimes a whitening toothpaste or kit just isn't enough. More and more of us are turning to cosmetic dentistry. Do you have a mile-wide gap, chipped choppers or crooked gnashers? There's no cause need to worry for if you have the money, your teeth can be revitalized in just a few appointments. You'll be thanking the inventors of veneer, caps and Zoom whiteners for your smile each time you look in the mirror.
If you get the chance to visit other countries, have a look at the grins of the locals. A couple years ago I took a trip to Taiwan and I have to say I was shocked by what I saw. Mouths filled with crooked, broken and tobacco-stained teeth. I mean, it wasn't like I was visiting an underdeveloped country or anything. Surely they you could get a bit of cosmetic dentistry so you could smile with pride. After all, you only get one smile, don't you?
Chatting with a few locals and I soon find out the reason why. Apparently, it isn't a real problem. Yep, they aren't concerned at all by dodgy smiles. In a lot of foreign lands, there is no concern about cosmetic dentistry, teeth-straightening or whiteners. Oh, and apparently Americans have an obsession with whiter-than-white perfect teeth.
Well, I can proudly say that's true for me. Why else would I give my teeth good brushings three-times each day and floss often. It prevents tooth decay but ensures my choppers are pristine and pearly-white. I know I'm not alone in that.
At the end of the day, I can't see anything bad about undergoing a bit of cosmetic dentistry. If I needed it, I would go for it. If the technology's there, why not use it?
What I do know is this. Whenever I see a person, their smiles are the first thing I notice and make them important impression (for better or worse). To those in the cosmetic dentistry profession, I salute you! You're keeping our smiles picture perfect, no matter what life throws at us!
